Efteling general director Fons Jurgens has announced he will be leaving the park for a top position at Puy du Fou. He will be taking the place of Nicolas de Villiers, who was previously CEO of the historical show theme park in Les Epesses (France).

Jurgens will be taking his knowledge and expertise to optimize the budgets of the French park. “Seeing as the show budget is currently the highest of all budgets, it is the best place to start optimizing,” says Jurgens. “What I’ve learned at the Efteling is that guests do not care for shows, therefore it is a no-brainer to scrap all shows at Puy du Fou.”

Even though all shows will be scrapped, Jurgens still thinks there’s plenty to do at Puy du Fou. “There are 9 walkthroughs in the park which will immerse guests in medieval France,” he says. Fans of the park are tweeting about their dissatisfaction, but will undoubtedly renew their annual passes regardless of the announced changes.
